This program was created by special education teachers in the Philadelphia area, and Columbus is pleased to be the first in Utah to provide this training in digital literacy. By using pre-tests, Columbus staff determine what students already know, and customized the Digitability program to provide that student with education in using the internet, social media, Google apps, email, Wix, and LinkedIn. Students also engage in group projects that are set up like projects in the business world--we give students jobs (like design manager, content manager, project manager), track their progress, and pay students with Digitability Dollars that are useful when paying class bills. Students finish the class with an online portfolio to supplement their resumes, and a LinkedIn profile to help with networking and finding a job.
